The Tao of Product Management

Chapter Two: The Harmony of Opposites

When certainty illuminates the path forward,
doubt emerges as its faithful companion.
When clarity seems to reveal the perfect design,
complexity weaves its intricate patterns beneath.

Needs and solutions create each other.
The difficult and the easy complement each other.
The urgent and the important shape each other.
External demands and internal vision follow each other.

Therefore the Product Manager works with non-action.
Facilitating without controlling,
Guiding without forcing.

When work is completed and success realized,
The team says,
"We built this ourselves."

The Product Manager embraces the unknown,
Does not capture requirements prematurely,
Allows space for ideas to emerge,
Does not claim credit for insights discovered.

By letting go of ownership,
Everything finds its proper place.
